Company History - Started 1891
This was a time when shopkeepers and all trading establishments kept their accounts in £ s d (pounds, shillings & pence) via a variety of hand made ledgers. Indeed the 3rd generation Loughlin family continued to supply machine ruling and large ledgers until the late 80’s with the arrival of computerised recording.
Thomas Loughlin was the North West Company often commissioned for high profile events recorded with large gilded leather bound books commemorating Royal visits. These included the State opening of the Mersey tunnel, the Queen’s commemorative visit and the Liverpool Garden Festival. The originals sit in Buckingham Palace with Liverpool City copies still to be found in the Town Hall Library. The volume for the commemorative visit necessitating a special skin of leather imported from a bull in Germany, as no UK animal could provide the single piece for the 3 Foot tall book. On a more sombre note, we were commissioned by numerous UK City Town Halls to produce personalised Memorial books following the tragic death of Princess Diana in 1997.
Changing demands and productivity advances saw the purchase of the first folding machine almost 40 years ago. This was the commencement of a business progression of investment and growth towards our current status employing new technology and equipment as the North West’s leading print finisher.
Our portfolio specialises in Folding, Perfect Binding, Saddle Stitching and Wiro-Binding. Whilst we still offer that founder company service of bespoke handcraft sewn and case binding to specialist clients.
More recent rapid expansion from the year 2000 included specialist development in miniature folding and stitched and glued booklets for Pharmaceutical and other consumer targeted products. We offer an online design service for those willing to challenge us.
Our purpose built premises is situated on the waterfront in Liverpool with easy access to motorway links and embraces the latest in PC technology and industry specific equipment.
Our reputation has been built on Quality and customer service. Having achieved accreditation of ISO 9001:2000, we pride ourselves in our processes of manufacture within this discipline.
We believe that we offer a professional quality service, whilst still maintaining the original origins of personal unique service emanating from our family roots back in 1891.
